Clint talks with Stan Korducki, the President of the Wood County Hospital every Monday morning at 88.1 WBGU-FM. This week Stan revealed that the location of a time capsule that was buried in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the hospital’s opening had been lost so the capsule couldn’t be opened! Fast forward to last week, during the Wood County Hospitals 75th Anniversary Employee Celebration, the staff buried a time capsule to be reopened on Wood County Hospital’s 100th anniversary in 2051.
Filled with items donated by departments throughout the organization, the capsule captures a snapshot of who we are in this era —from a ribbon from the 75th anniversary ribbon-cutting ceremony and a community news article to COVID and surgical masks, an Environmental Services 2000s-era beeper, Lab test tubes, an empty Pharmacy pill bottle, Radiology supplies, Wellness trackers, Surgery materials, brochures, business cards and more.
Also included were staff predictions for the future of Wood County Hospital and healthcare. Their visions included expanded robotic surgery, biologic treatments for illnesses such as cancer, freestanding emergency centers, greater use of AI in test interpretation and charting, advances in genetic testing and aging research, noninvasive laser procedures and more robots that help clean and disinfect.
