The Wood County Republican Central Committee Thursday evening selected Ryan Lee to fill the opening left when Republican Doris Herringshaw withdrew from the race for Wood County Commissioner last week. Lee was one of nine applicants for the position on the ballot and will face Democratic County commissioner contender Brenna Reynolds, a Rossford City Council member currently serving her second term, and Independent Joe DeMare of Bowling Green. The three candidates will be on the Nov. 3 ballot.

At Thursday’s regular meeting of the Wood County Commissioners, Wood County Fair President Paul Perry and Fair Manager Laura Westgate gave an update on the many improvements that have taken place at the Fairgrounds in preparation for the 153rd Wood County Fair which officially starts Sunday. Clint heard praise from Craig LaHote and Ted Bowlus for the Fair Board and got comments from both on the recent announcement that incumbent Doris Herringshaw was removing herself from the November ballot because of health concerns. Doris Herringshaw, Wood County Commissioner has served in that position for 14 years and served Wood County for many years before that as well.

Clint speaks with Ann Cavera and Michelle Raine about the local author program at Wood County District Public Library. Ann Cavera is the featured author at the next local author program on August 8th at 2 p.m.
