Larry & Gail Nader, BG Residents

Larry and Gail Nader announced recently that they were going to be selling their beautiful home, the former Froney-Millikin House, located at 307 W. Wooster St. in Bowling Green, a remarkable historic building built in 1888.

Gerrie Cole, BGHS Class of 1954

On Tuesday's show, Clint shared some memories from the very 1st Bobcat Mascot for Bowling Green City Schools. We sat down with Gerrie Cole who just celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Class of 1954's graduation along with her friend Shirley Sheldrick.
Here are portions of Clint's interview with Gerrie, who told the story of how, after debuting the homemade Bobcat costume for a home game her senior year, the two friends, along with 9 others were seriously injured in a terrible car accident on the way to an away game in Toledo the following weekend.

Ralph & Patricia Burnside

Ralph and Patricia Burnside celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with friends and family Wednesday at the Wood County Committee On Aging. Clint had the great pleasure of hearing stories of their 70 years together growing up in rural Wood County and eloping in July of 1954. You can hear some of those stories here!

Rachel Newell was hired by the Bowling Green City Schools Board of Education to be the new Executive Director of Teaching and Learning at this afternoon's special meeting. The approved contract is for 2 years, effective August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2026, with a base salary of $103,000. Listen to Clint's interview with her here!

City of Bowling Green, Ohio Director of Public Infrastructure/Utilities Director Brian O'Connell and City Engineer Brad Holman, spent some extra time going over the many infrastructure projects that are now underway in the city.
Listen here to get details on the Village Subdivision Water Line Improvements, Gypsy Lane Paving, Sand Ridge/Pearl Paving and the 2-year South Main Water Line Improvement and paving project that started this week.
We also discussed a possible new solar field to replace the aging wind turbines and expansion of the water treatment capacity for the city with big economic development coming in the form of Abbott Laboratories new production facility and the Data Center locating north of town.

Paul Perry, Wood County Fair Board, & Bob Latta, US Congressman

With the 151st Wood County Fair now just 32 days away, we're starting a series of regular visits with members of the Fair Board of Directors to update us all on the preparations and features of this year's "Be a Star" fair. Kristin Otley, BG Parks & Recreation

A memorial service has been scheduled for long time City of Bowling Green, Ohio advocate Sandy Rowland. Listen here as Bowling Green Parks & Recreation Director Kristin Otley told the Park Board last night that the service will be held Sunday, August 10th from 11:30-4 at the Veterans Building in City Park.
There, you'll also hear of the recent passing of Debbie Knuth who worked for the City of Bowling Green in the Parks and Recreation Department for over 20 years and was an instructor for BGSU. Kristin said Deb's passing was another big loss for the BG Parks and Recreation Family.

The Children’s Discovery Garden first opened in 2008 as one of the few hands-on teaching gardens in Simpson Garden Park. At Tuesday night's Bowling Green Parks & Recreation Board Meeting, Director Kristin Otley said renovations and upgrades are coming for this beautiful space. Listen here!
We encourage visitors, old and young, to explore, touch, pick, water and plant in this wonderful garden. The waterfall, stream, and pond focus on the importance of water and the water cycle, and the Storybook Garden, Mr. McGregor’s Garden, and Herb Garden celebrate plants as food and the role they play in human culture.

Lt. Adam Skaff, City of Bowling Green Police Division

Two Bowling Green Police officers, Lt. Adam Skaff and Sgt. Tyson Richmond, recently graduated from the 11th Public Safety Leadership Academy class after 11 weeks of accredited, college-level training through a partnership with The Ohio State University John Glenn College of Public Affairs.

The Black Swamp Players were one of only three groups invited to State festival after performing at the regional festival this past weekend at Maumee Indoor Theater!

Larry Nader, BG Historic Homeowner

The beautiful home that sits at the corner of E. Wooster and S. Grove Street in the historic district of Downtown BG is going on the market for the 1st time in over 100 years. Larry Nader, whose family has owned the home for generations, now lives here with his wife Gail and they've decided to downsize.
Listen here as Clint took a few minutes to visit with Larry Thursday to talk about the history of this wonderful home, what he hopes for the future of the property and the monumental task of sorting through well over a century of family artifacts that now have to been stored or sold.

Eric Willman, Wood County Amateur Radio Club

Members of the Wood County Amateur Radio Club will be participating in the annual national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise June 22-23 on the grounds of the Wood County Museum, 13660 County Home Road in Bowling Green.

Since 1933, Ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of Amateur Radio.
This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.

Mark Cassin, State Bank

The State Bank Bowling Green VP Mark Cassin called Clint on the show this morning to talk not only about the many events that State Bank is supporting in the area, but they also talked about how credit card debt continues to rise, and Mark gave some warnings for folks looking for a quick low- or no-interest loan to help them get rid of that debt. Listen here!
Americans now owe a collective $1.13 trillion on their credit cards, according to a new report on household debt from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Credit card balances increased by $50 billion, or roughly 5%, in the fourth quarter of 2023, the New York Fed found. Credit card delinquency rates also jumped — particularly among younger millennials, or borrowers between the ages of 30 and 39, who are burdened by high levels of student loan debt.

One of the first pieces of business for Buckeye Girls State each year is the election of officers to several positions of leadership. After the winners were announced at Wednesday's "Government Celebration," Clint had the opportunity to talk with the new BGS Governor Evelina Pappalardo and Lt. Governor Kateri Sherman. Bowling Green First Responders

Clint is always struck by the professionalism of our 1st responders during very difficult times, like the one faced by the Bowling Green Fire Division yesterday.
He has condensed the first 20 minutes of radio traffic after a Wednesday evening call came in for a fire at the 18-unit apartment complex in the 300 block of Parkview Drive. It left 13 families homeless, but there was only 1 minor injury to a resident. Listen here to the collaboration between all the responding departments and the calm of the professionals on the scene.

Madelayne Lee & Carys Ruck, Buckeye Girls' State

Madelayne Lee from Elmwood High School and Carys Ruck from Eastwood High School are among the 10 Buckeye Girls State delegates from Wood County that are part of the nearly 500-member 2024 class. Listen to Clint's visit here!

Group Discussion on Marijuana Laws

Listen here to a discussion we had this morning on the Recreational Marijuana law passed last year by the State and a new ordinance passed recently here in City of Bowling Green, Ohio.
Joining Clint in studio was Bowling Green, Ohio City Attorney Hunter Brown, who was tasked with creating the new legislation, Bowling Green Police Division Lt. Ryan Tackett, Wood County Prevention Coalition's Tina Bradley, and Kyle Clark from the Wood County Educational Service Center. As you'll hear we talked about enforcing the new legislation, educating adults and kids alike about marijuana usage and more.
The State of Ohio became the 25th state in the United States to pass a medical marijuana law. Passed in June 2016, HB-523 established the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program which allows people with certain medical conditions, upon the recommendation of Ohio-licensed physicians certified by the State Medical Board, to purchase and use medical marijuana.
Fast forward to 2023, the Regulate Cannabis Like Alcohol Initiative gathered enough signatures to put the question of legalizing adult-use marijuana to vote at the November 7, 2023 ballot. The measure was successful at the ballot with a vote of 57-43, making recreational marijuana legal in Ohio for those over the age of 21.

Jodi Harding, Wood County Dog Warden

Anthony King from the BRAVE (Black Rights, Activism, Visibility, and Equity) organization stopped by for a visit this morning. Listen here as Clint got details about a special anniversary celebration that will happening this weekend in Downtown BG.
BRAVE will host their 5th annual Juneteenth celebration at the Wooster Green on June 15, 2024 from 2- 8pm. The event will honor freedom and Black culture in the Bowling Green community. There will be Black-owned businesses selling their products ranging from skincare to accessories, and live music, genres spanning from R&B to Neo-Soul by artists Mike Williams on Sax, Will Kellum, Jasmine Renee, Jon Torrence, L.I.V.E Hightower, with special Host Toni Gordon. Food truck Fat Boyz by Al & Zoe and Stacks Chicken will be serving out their delicious Caribbean cuisines, and Fat Boyz will have their hit wings and burgers for the duration of the event. BRAVE welcomes attendees of all ages to drop by throughout the day to enjoy our various experiences, food, music, art, as well as kids activities such as bouncy houses, yard games, and face painting.

Taj Farrant, Singer / Songwriter

It's been almost 2 years since we were able to sit down with the phenomenally talented (and still humble) Taj Farrant in studio, so Clint spent some extra time catching up.
