Other topics they touched on included Saturday's visit with Meghan Koesters, a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in theatre. Meghan currently works with children in both an academic and theatrical setting. Though her primary focus is acting, Koesters has performed in all of the different facets of theatre, including technical theatre. Her primary reason for writing picture books was upon the discovery that there are little to no picture books about technical theatre. She hopes that this will help to spark an interest among youth to explore the various outlets that theatre has to offer.

Anesa Miller & Sean Brennan, BG Property Owner

What's going to happen at tonight's (Monday's) Bowling Green City Council meeting? There will be 1st reading of an ordinance amending the zoning district map of the City of Bowling Green for approximately .307 acres at 416 West Wooster Street, the old community hospital, from PR Pedestrian-Residential to R-2 Medium Density Residential Zoning.
The current owner, Anesa Miller, and Sean Brennan, who's assisting with the project, visited the show this morning to talk about her plans to renovate the historic building for use as a duplex with 2 living areas for renters. Listen to the audio from the visit here!
Their discussion covered the Architectural Design and History of the home, the significance of Dr. Manville in our community, how many local residents (and possibly Morning Show listeners) were born at the "Community Hospital", the cost of renovations and why it isn't feasible to make it into a single-family home, and that the zoning change that has been approved by the Planning Commission.

The 2nd annual Bowling Green State University Baseball First Pitch Dinner, featuring keynote speaker and distinguished BGSU Baseball alumnus John Mitchell, ’78, was held Saturday night.
To support the success of the “Campaign for Our Future” to Enhance the Stellar Field Baseball Facility, Board of Trustees member Paul J. Hooker, '75, had generously agreed to match gifts up to $500,000 made by January 31, 2025.
With that match met in the first phase of fundraising, Mr. Hooker pledged another $500,000 in matching funds again Saturday night!

Discussions at Tuesday night's Bowling Green Parks & Recreation Board meeting included the possibility of raising prices in 2025 for admission to the BG Pool and Waterpark, and a slight increase in some of the programming.

Clint gets to visit with BGSU Hockey Head Coach Dennis Williams every Tuesday morning on The Morning Show BG, and today they recapped a hard-fought series last weekend against Augustana and looked forward to this weekend's series in Marquette facing the Northern Michigan Wildcats.

Mayor Mike Aspacher, City of Bowling Green

Brittney Emmons was hired last August to be the 4th Head Gymnastics coach in Bowling Green State University Gymnastics history. Coach Emmons excelled as a competitor at Ball State University Gymnastics earning trips to three NCAA Regionals as an all-arounder and was the assistant coach of the year in the ECAC. Turns out Coach Emmons is also an early riser, as she made her way into the studio Friday morning at 7:15 for her 1st visit and previewed this Sunday's 1st home meet with her at the helm.

January 23rd is Maternal Health Day, so Clint visited this morning with Katie Denison, Wood County Health Department WIC Director and Nutrition Director.

They also talked about how to sign up for the many benefits available through the WIC program. In addition, Katie shared details about a new WCHD project in North Baltimore called the Winter Grow to Go program in collaboration with the NB Garden Club.

Every other Wednesday on The Morning Show BG, we visit with the Bowling Green City Schools Superintendent Dr. Ted Haselman. This morning topics included closing schools Tuesday and Wednesday because of the extreme cold, and the school board voting at last week's meeting to offer open enrollment to families across Ohio.
Other topics they touched on were College Credit Plus Information Night tonight (January 22) at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center, Superintendent’s Coffee Chat on January 23 from 9-10 a.m. at Novel Blends located at 116 S. Barbara Brunner, Neighbors Helping Neighbors

There is a group of residents in one neighborhood in the City of Bowling Green that started gathering together last spring in an effort to get to know each other better. That grass roots effort has now grown to over 70 homes according to Barbara Brunner, Coordinator of the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program. Less than a year in the group is very active and busy getting to know one another, helping each other, having fun, and doing community service events.

On Friday, January 17 at 1:00 pm, the City of Bowling Green Human Relations Commission will host the 36th annual tribute to Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event will be held at the Wood County District Public Library located at 251 N. Main Street in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Lane Montz, Better Business Bureau, & Seth Thompson, Panda Technologies

Lane Montz, President of the Better Business Bureau and Better Business Bureau Ethics Foundation, Inc. and Seth Thompson of Panda Technologies joined Clint in the studio this morning for their first conversation of 2025.

Joe Edens, BG Community Foundation, & Various Grant Recipients

Over $61,000 was handed out by the Bowling Green Community Foundation to 18 Wood County non-profit agencies at last night's 2025 grant celebration event.

Dr. Rodney Rogers, BGSU

You'll hear the President recap a very successful 2024 and look forward to finalizing the next campus master plan, an incredible tool that provides the campus community an opportunity to re-examine campus improvements every 10 to 20 years.
Despite declining enrollment at most public institutions, BGSU continues to grow and thrive with President Rogers saying they are going through a "democratic shift" and the University is positioning itself to succeed now and far into the future.

On this morning's show Stan Korducki, President of the Wood County Hospital, reacted to the latest news from Bowling Green State University which shows since launching as a standalone program in 2020, the Bowling Green State University nursing program has quickly grown to become the largest bachelor’s program of its kind in northwest Ohio.

Stan and Clint also talked about tonight's Bowling Green Community Foundation ceremony where grants totaling $61,523 will be awarded to local 18 non-profit organizations for 2025. Wood County Hospital Community Wellness for New Mothers and Families is receiving $6,700 for assisting low-income families with diapers, wipes, baby beds, medications.

Rachael Thayer-London and Andrea Depinet stopped in for a visit this morning to invite the ladies in our community to join the Women in Business Leadership Council for a night of fun and fundraising at this year's Galentines Gala 2025!

Trooper Ian Blackwood & Lt. Matt Geer, Ohio State Highway Patrol

Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Ian Blackwood recently completed his Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) training and visited the studio Friday morning with Bowling Green Post Commander Lt. Matt Geer.

Zach Migura, Doug Dariano, & Joe Fawcett, Wood County Veterans Service Office

The Wood County Veterans Service Office relocated to 1940 E. Gypsy Lane into a larger and more accessible space on November 25th and 26th.
At Thursday morning's Wood County Commissioners meeting, Director Zach Migura and board members Doug Dariano and Joe Fawcett gave the Veterans Service Office quarterly update, saying that total Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, dollars to clients as a result of local office representation in 2024 were $1,545,119.57.

Kelsie Hoagland, ODOT

With winter weather arriving this week, Clint visited with Ohio Department of Transportation District 2 Public Information Officer Kelsie Hoagland who told us the 2024-25 winter driving season is on pace to set a record for plow trucks being struck by vehicles while engaged in snow and ice operations.
Listen here as Kelsey shared with Clint that in the Northwest Ohio region last winter, ODOT used 161,000 gallons of liquid deicers for treating highways and pretreating salt. Northwest Ohio has 236 trucks for use during the snow and ice season, and is responsible for 6,750 lane miles of highways in the 16-county region in Northwest Ohio.
Last winter, ODOT plow trucks were struck 22 times while engaged in snow and ice operations. ODOT will continue to implore motorists to be mindful that plow trucks operate at slower speeds and to not follow a plow too closely, to give trucks ample room to work, and keep headlights on dim when following a truck. #moveover

Kyle Clark, the Wood County Educational Service Center

As we turn the page from 2024 to 2025, Kyle Clark from the Wood County Educational Service Center looked back at successes and forward at the challenges our young people face and what the WCESC is doing to support them.

Rose Drain from BG Save Our Neighborhoods Group stopped in the Dave Horger Media and Production Studio today to invite the community to a “MITTE-N GREET" at Wintergarden Park Lodge on Saturday January 11 from 2pm to 4pm. All community members are invited to this family-friendly event to enjoy a hot chocolate bar, homemade cookies, and a craft project featuring mittens.
