Announcements by Bowling Green State University Vice President for Athletics Strategy Derek van der Merwe, include news that Kerrie Turner would be promoted to Associate AD for Student-Athlete Services at Bowling Green. Now entering her 20th year at BGSU, Turner transitioned into student-athlete services as an Assistant AD in July 2024 after serving as the head gymnastics coach at Bowling Green for 17 seasons. Clint interviews Kerrie to learn more of her news.

Zach Migura, Executive Director of the Wood County Veterans Service Office, shared his quarterly report to the Wood County Commissioners Thursday. Clint talked with him afterward, to learn about the over $800,000 in VA benefits that have been awarded this calendar year to our Wood County veterans, plus they talked about social support and the office’s plans for the Wood County Fair.

Wood County Health Department (WCHD) is investigating an increase in confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness caused by a parasite called Cyclospora cayetanensis. Clint chats with Wood County Health Department Assistant Director of Health Promotion and Prevention, Tyler Briggs, who told us typically they would see 2 cases of Cyclosporiasis a year, quite an increase this year.

Clint shares his regular bi-monthly update from Bowling Green City Schools, Ohio Superintendent Dr. Ted Haselman. Joining as in-studio guest, State Representative Haraz N. Ghanbari so discussion naturally went from a district update to an update on public school funding from the State of Ohio.

After covering the regular monthly meeting of the Wood County Committee On Aging Governing Board, Clint chats with WCCOA Director Alisha Nenadovich for an update as we head into Wood County Fair season and Lisa Myers who gave us details on Social Services including the home repair programs.

Clint chats with Dr. Rodney K. Rogers – BGSU President and State Representative Haraz N. Ghanbari as well as @Ohio State Patrol Lt. Nihiser to discuss details about BGSU and the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) entering into a new agreement to offer qualifying troopers and cadets a streamlined pathway to earning a college degree.

Josh Chatfield, Fitness & Aquatics Manager for Bowling Green Parks & Recreation, called the show to give Clint an update after closures this spring for another “contamination incident” and for cloudy water after folks not waiting 10-15 minutes after applying their sunscreen.

The Wood County District Public Library has done it again! Another terrific program in the Children’s space with Dr. Peg Yacobucci, a paleontologist from Bowling Green State University, invited kids to become a paleontologist for a day and explore the story of Ohio’s state fossils! Clint had some one-on-one time with one of the department leaders at Legacy Farmers Cooperative / Legacy Country Corner and shares the latest farm market news for Wood and surrounding counties from Chad Rosebrook, VP of Grain.

Clint had the opportunity to welcome Riley Miller into the studio for her first visit since taking over at BG Manor in May. Riley is very familiar with BG and BGSU though since she earned both her Undergraduate and master’s degrees as a Falcon.

What a pleasure it was to return to the studio this morning! Clint talks with 2 community leaders and successful business owners in Prudy Brodt from Sunset Bistro and Shaun Crusa from The Sundae Station! They talk about their journey as successful restaurateurs through hard work and community involvement, plus the recent opening of another West Side eatery in Barry Bagels.

Akash Singh, a proud Bowling Green State University graduate and owner of Gas & Express Marts BG Marathon, shares a special surprise for his customers when they stopped by his location at 535 N. Main St. on the 4th of July. In honor of Independence Day again this year, for a couple of hours, Akash lowered the price of a gallon of regular gas to $1.77.6 a gallon and the price of plus to $2.50 a gallon in honor of the 250th anniversary!
