Cindy Hildebrand

We met with several wonderful folks at this year's Middleton Township Community Safety Day, one in particular had a remarkable story of courage moving forward after a terrible tragedy hit her family.
Listen here to the story of Cindy Hildebrand whose daughter, Julie, was killed in the deadly 47-car pileup on the Ohio Turnpike on Dec. 23, 2022. In the chaos of the accident, first responders couldn’t find identification for her or her two young children. It took nine hours for officials to inform the family that Julie had been killed and which hospital was treating her son and daughter.
Just a few months after the tragic accident, the Julie Roth Memorial Foundation was formed, and the Roth ID Tag Emergency Identification System was created to aid first responders identify victims and survivors in the aftermath of an accident.

Dave is hosting a talk the next three Wednesdays at the Wood County Committee On Aging focusing on the long and unusual history of Baseball. Sept. 25th it's "The Catcher was a Spy-the strange and mysterious life of Moe Berg," then on Oct. 2nd Dave will present "Baseball Stars as Movie Stars".

Kim Roessner & Joann Amos, Women's Club of BG

The Women's Club of Bowling Green, Ohio has several important events coming up in the next few weeks and Kim Roessner, the President, and Joann Amos stopped by to give us the details on the latest initiatives from this 104-year-old organization.

Club members will set up open SUVs in the parking lot surrounding the building located at 311 S. Main St. to collect donations for the club’s ongoing causes, specifically including The Cocoon, BG Christian Food Pantry, and Brown Bag Food Project.

Jon Waters, BGSU Marching Band

The BGSU Falcon Marching Band, more than doubling in size over the past two years, is now the second largest in the nation and the largest in university history with 425 members! The Band along with the spirit teams from Bowling Green State University, entertained a large crowd this afternoon at the Rally BG on Main 2024 event.

Terry Burton, Wood County Board of Elections

Amanda Gamby, City of Bowling Green

Lots to talk with City of Bowling Green, Ohio Communications Director Amanda Gamby about this morning. Her discussion with Clint ranged from the ongoing brush collection in the city to tonight's "Glow Roll" bike event, and they touched on Saturdays 4th annual "Rally BG on Main" event. Theresa Pollick, Northwestern Water & Sewer District

Theresa Pollick from the Northwestern Water & Sewer District told Clint on Friday's show that the award of the SR 582 Dunbridge Sewer and Water project was tabled Thursday to allow more time to ensure the schedule and budgets are correct. Bids were under the engineering estimate.
Listen here as Theresa also updated Clint on the upcoming Portage waterline replacement project and Wood County lead service line project too. They also talked about the closure of State Route 582 to build a roundabout in support of the Data Center scheduled to be built in the area.

Roger Mazzarella, BGSU Rugby

BGSU Men's Rugby has a couple of huge games this weekend, hosting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Roger Mazzarella Field. With a 1st game at 1:00, Roger told us the 2nd game (B-side) should start around 2:30.

Wendy Manning & Lona Leck, Citizens for BG Dog Parks

Wendy Manning and Lona Leck stopped by the studio this morning to invite dog lovers to stop by Saturday's "Dog Day Afternoon" pop-up dog park.

Judge Matthew Reger, WC Court of Common Pleas, & Aiden Creager, BGSU

We're very excited about a new initiative here on the show that was the brainchild of Matthew Reger, Wood County Common Pleas Judge. With the help of a BGSU intern Aiden Creager, we'll be able to follow criminal cases we report on as they make their way through the court system.

Coach Dennis Williams, BGSU Hockey

During new BGSU Hockey coach Dennis (Willie) Williams' presentation to the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club the fire alarm went off at the Slater Family Ice Arena. We'll that didn't stop us, we just headed outside for some Q&A with the coach as he readies his team for the new season, now only 4 weeks away!

Middleton Township Fire Department Chief Steve Asmus and MTEMS Captain John Marcson joined Clint this morning to invite everyone to this year's Middleton Township Safety Day this Saturday.

Jada Parker, Cyrus Higham, & Paul Perry, Penta Career Center

On Wednesday, students and staff of the criminal justice and firefighter programs at the Penta Career Center in Perrysburg township conducted a Patriot Day Ceremony.

Dr. Ted Haselman, BG City Schools

The State report card come out this Friday for schools across Ohio and Bowling Green City Schools is expecting to see improving metrics, according to Superintendent Dr. Ted Haselman.
The report cards were just one of the topics they discussed this morning, topics that included a recap of Haselman's first coffee chat, the "Pass it on Challenge" now under way at the high school, and much more. Listen to Clint's visit here!

Marissa Muniz Kolhoff, Wood County Museum

Marissa from the Wood County Museum stopped in Tuesday morning to remind us the last "Music at the Museum" event is coming up September 19th at 6 and will feature 3 bands: GRUBS • Trip-Lettes • Corduroy Road!

Chris & Matt Hittle, Rudolph Libbe Inc.

Congratulations to Chris and Belinda Bates at Bates Recycling, who celebrated the expansion of their business with a ribbon cutting thanks to the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce. We had the opportunity to visit with Chris and Matt Hittle from Rudolph Libbe Inc, who helped with the construction of the new facilities. Listen here!

Stan Korducki, Wood County Hospital

Turns out even the President of the Wood County Hospital, Stan Korducki, found time this past weekend to get downtown and enjoy the Black Swamp Arts Festival. Listen here to this morning's visit while Stan and Clint recapped a busy weekend and looked forward to a couple of important dates, including the Community Health Fair and Dr. Carlos Gomez, orthopedic surgeon with Wood County Advanced Orthopaedics specializing in knee and hip replacement, hosting a free joint replacement seminar so you can learn more about the advanced hip or knee replacement options at Wood County Hospital.

Ellen Smith, Local Artist

The 2024 Black Swamp Arts Festival is pleased to announce the winners of the Juried Art Show. This year’s Best in Show is Ellen Smith, a wood artist from Bowling Green, Ohio being awarded $2,000. When Clint talked with Ellen on Sunday, she still couldn't believe she had been picked for "Best in Show"; listen here!

Coach Shaun Kiss, BG Bobcat Football, Dan Black, BG High School, & Karen Walters

Clint had 3 interviews in the last 2 days about a remarkable young man, Tyler Boice. Listen here as Bowling Green Bobcat Football coach Shaun Kiss was previewing tonight's game with Anthony Wayne when the topic turned to tonight's "purple out" event at the game. Clint also had Bowling Green High School Principal Dan Black talk about the Bowling Green City Schools community (and surrounding communities) support of Tyler and his family, and Karen Walters shared her family's personal perspective on this special young man's battle.
Everyone attending the home football game tonight from students to adults, including both BG AND AW fans, are invited to wear purple to participate in the “PURPLE OUT” to show your support for Tyler Boice, a BGHS Senior and member of the BG Bobcat Bands Marching Band, who is undergoing treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. BGHS StuCrew will sell purple ribbons at the game, with all proceeds going to Tyler and his family to support his fight. #TylerStrong

Cole Christensen & Tim Concannon, Black Swamp Arts Festival

As we look forward to Direct Support Professional (DSP) week Sept 8-14th, Clint asked Jeremy Buchhop, Provider Relations Specialist from the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Amy Dauer, Wood Lane Residential Services, to join him this morning. Emily Keegan & Anne McLaughlin, Black Swamp Arts Festival

The Black Swamp Arts Festival is back this weekend in Downtown Bowling Green SID for the 31st year!
This all volunteer-run event is once again looking for folks to help make this year's festival the biggest and best yet. Emily Keegan and Anne McLaughlin are co-chairs of the Volunteer committee again this year, and they stopped by this morning to tell us all how we can sign up this year. Listen here!

Chief Bill Moorman, BG Fire Division, & Deputy Chief Major Justin White, BGPD

Listen here to Clint's visit with Bowling Green Fire Division Chief Bill Moorman and Bowling Green Police Division Deputy Chief Major Justin White after their presentation to Bowling Green City Council Tuesday on possible future improvements to the Fire and Police facilities.
A study, financed by the city, is ongoing now and community presentations are underway to garner feedback on what citizens would like to see in possibly new or renovated buildings. Some of the challenges with the existing buildings were shown during last night's presentation.

Deanna Vatan & Doug Cubberly, Black Swamp Arts Festival

Deanna Vatan & Doug Cubberly are co-chairs of the Site & Logistics committee again this year for the Black Swamp Arts Festival and Clint had the opportunity to talk with them both this morning. Jeff Klein and Erin Konecky, Wood County EMA, & Chief Bill Moorman, BG Fire Division

The Director of the Wood County Emergency Management Agency Jeff Klein and the Deputy Director Erin Konecky stopped by the studio this morning to talk about September being National Preparedness Month and they also discussed last week's storms and heavy winds.

Tim Dunn, BG Youth Baseball

Listen here to Clint's visit with the long-time President of Bowling Green Youth Baseball, Tim Dunn, about a great new partnership with Bowling Green State University.
Announced this week was the return of the 50/50 raffle, which benefits the Ziggy Collective and BG Baseball, at BGSU athletics events. All proceeds that go to the Ziggy Collective will be allocated for NIL opportunities for BGSU female student-athletes. BGSU Athletics Director Derek van der Merwe said "This initiative is a collaboration between two organizations committed to the growth and development of student-athletes and the youth in our community. Half of the proceeds will go to the winner, while the other half in addition to benefiting NIL opportunities for BGSU female student-athletes, will also benefit the Bowling Green Youth Baseball Program."

Marissa Muniz Kolhoff, Wood County Museum

Marissa Muniz Kolhoff had lots to share with us on her visit to the studio this week!
Coming up at the Wood County Museum it's another FREE First Friday on September 6th, plus another "Music at the Museum" event outdoors on the porch September 19th, and there's even a birthday paw-ty for "Peaches" the barn cat on the 26th in partnership with the For the Love of Cats folks.

Dr. Ted Haselman, BG City Schools

Bowling Green City Schools Superintendent Dr. Ted Haselman called the show this morning for his bi-monthly update. Listen to their visit here! Todd Underwood, CIFT

Clint welcomed Todd Underwood, Strategic Marketing Manager for CIFT (Center for Innovative Food Technology), into the studio for the 1st time this morning.

Todd said that as the Northwest Ohio Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) partner, and with the Northwest Ohio Cooperative Kitchen (NOCK) Facility located right here in Bowling Green, he believes they have a lot to offer, particularly to small and medium manufacturers and food processors in the region.

Mark Wasylyshyn, Wood County Sheriff

Strong storms moved through Bowling City of Bowling Green, Ohio and Wood County Tuesday night. We had 2 reports on this morning's news. At 7:00 this morning Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn called to update us on outages across the county. Listen here!

We also got an update from Brian O’Connell, Director of Public Infrastructure and Utilities for Bowling Green, who told us "We had most back on at 10:15 last night after we cleared a tree that took out a circuit from the Gypsy Lane sub. Worked on the smaller outages until 3am. Only one or two out now, but damage is on their property and will need an electrician first."

Mayor Mike Aspacher, City of Bowling Green

During our monthly update from City of Bowling Green, Ohio Mayor Mike Aspacher this morning, topics ranged from the possibility of hiring an animal control officer, the ongoing negotiations for a new lease for the Bowling Green Country Club, the administrations goals for 2025, and much more. Paul Perry, Wood County Senior Fair Board

Paul Perry was selected last week by the Wood County Fair to be the President of the Sr. Fair Board. Clint visited with Paul on the show and had him recap this year's fair, talk about the collaboration with the National Tractor Pulling Championships, share his excitement over October's 4x4 Fest coming to the Fairgrounds in October. Plus, he gave a shout out to the community to attend a future meeting of the Sr. Fair Board and get more involved. Listen here!

Patricia Peterson, former BGSU Volleyball Coach

Pat Peterson, the first coach in BGSU volleyball history, was one of many supporters on hand at the Dream Big fundraiser Saturday night. In her honor, Bowling Green State University Volleyball created the Patricia Peterson Academic Achievement awards, given to any volleyball player who earned a 4.0 grade point average for a semester. Peterson coached the team from 1976-79, compiling a record of 58-41-3 in the early stages of the program.

Greg Shepherd, Trotter's Tavern

Greg and Heather Shepherd purchased Trotters Tavern in Downtown Bowling Green around 8 months ago and have been hard at work expanding the hours of the local landmark as well as expanding the menu.

Just 2 days away from the SOLD OUT Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce annual Golf Scramble, Chamber Executive Director Mary Hinkelman stopped by the show this morning to recap a very busy August and preview exciting events happening In September.

Rachael Thayer London, BG 4x4Fest

This event allows 4x4 drivers to test their skill and the power of their vehicle to pull a weighted sled down our track. Created from a partnership between Thayer Family Dealers, Wood County Fairgrounds, VisitBG, and the National Tractor Pulling Championships, BG 4x4 Fest will provide a fun family day of 4x4 events on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

Earlene Kilpatrick, First Christian Church

Coach Dirk Conner, Perrysburg High School Football

Perrysburg High School Yellow Jacket Football coach Dirk Conner called the show this morning to preview the new season. Listen to their visit here! The former BG Bobcat head coach is in his 4th season at the helm in Perrysburg and is coming off an 8-win season that included a 1st round playoff win over Whitmer.

Matt Snow, City of Bowling Green

The City of Bowling Green, Ohio is administering funds for several different projects this year that are helping hundreds of homeowner's repair their homes. Projects ranging from ARPA Home Repairs, CDBG Home Repairs, CDBG Business Loans for Job Creation, Housing for the Homeless (Salvation Army is the sub-recipient), BG Transit and CHIP Home Rehab Partnership, to name a few.
Community Development Administrator Matt Snow told Clint this morning over 1 million dollars in funding is flowing into our community from several Federal and regional sources. How can you find out more? Listen to their visit here!

Matt Feasel, Bowling Green City Schools

Matt Feasel, CFO and Treasurer for Bowling Green City Schools, gave his first monthly report on the school's finances at Wednesday night's Board meeting.

Bill Herald, BG Transportation and Safety Committee

City of Bowling Green, Ohio's Transportation and Safety Committee held the first of at least 2 meetings to discuss "Animal Control options to increase Resident Safety."

Look who stopped by the studio this morning! Josh Chatfield and Brian Wisniewski gave us details about this Saturday's "Bobcat Hockey Night at the Races" event at the Wood County Fair Jr. Fair Building. At Friday's dedication of the Historical Markers in Downtown BG, we had the opportunity to talk with Marsha Coover Bloxsom and her husband Walter who were visiting BG for the 1st time, traveling here from their home in Texas.
On Monday's show you heard from Marsha, who is a direct descendent of George W. Gaghan, who built the building bearing his name at the southwest corner of Main and Wooster Streets in the late 1880's after a fire destroyed the original structure there. If you missed my interview with Marsha, you can find it here, along with some comments from local historian Dick Martin who was hosting the Bloxsom's on their visit to BG.

Make A Wish Foundation

Clint shared some stories on Monday's show about the annual Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana auction held at this year's National Tractor Pulling Championships. The auction brought in over $100,000 for the organization again this year thanks to the generosity of pullers and fans; you can hear that interview here!
There were also about 150 or so Otsego School kids and families that met Sunday morning to clean up the Fairgrounds at the end of this year's pulls.

Coach Craig Rutherford, Otsego Football

Otsego Athletics announced back in January that long time Eastwood Eagles coach Craig Rutherford would be the new Head Football coach for the Knights.
