1BookBG is returning to Bowling Green City Schools, Ohio again this fall for the 11th year. Clint talked with Stacy Higgins after Tuesday night’s update to the BG Schools Board of Education about how this program brings the community together and spurs a love of reading in our kids. Stacy shared with Clint that fundraising is continuing as well to make sure all kids K-5 will receive one of 3 carefully selected Max Brallier books that best matches their reading level.

Clint talked with Kinsey Mazey, the manager of the Downtown BG Farmers’ Market on this morning’s show. Kinsey said “The sky is blue and the sun is shining and we can’t wait to see you at the market tonight! Come out and join us in enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather we have today! Here’s a sneak peak of the vendors you get to look forward to seeing tonight.”

With just a little over a week until the 2026 Wood County Fair, Stacie talked about the importance of buyers showing up and supporting the Jr. Fair kids during the showing and sale of their animals saying “it’s the only way the kids can recoup their expenses”
Addie, a Bowling Green City Schools, Ohio graduate and a proud FFA Alum, talked about her career goals and how this internship is helping her gain experience in all aspects of agriculture.

With the 153rd Wood County Fair now less than 2 weeks away, Clint wanted to share a conversation he had recently with local historian Dick Martin about the history of the Fair which actually goes back 175 years!

It’s been just a month since the Bowling Green Community Foundation put out the call for at a Bowling Green City Council meeting for artists of any age group and of any ability level to contribute to an America 250 Liberty Tree Mural Mosaic.
Fast forward to this morning and David Maurer told Clint that if you want to be a part of this “community connection” project don’t delay, roughly 75% of the 600 tiles have been painted!

Throughout July and August, Wood County’s Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn and Prosecuting Attorney Paul Dobson have been presenting “Frauds and Scams: Spot Them and Stop Them” at the Wood County senior centers.
Both Sheriff Wasylyshyn and Prosecutor Dobson visited the studio Thursday morning and told Clint “The internet world of social media, AI, and other new technologies create potential for amazing advancements in all areas of our lives, from communication to medicine. However, they also pose dangers for the unwary. Fraudsters and thieves are constantly looking for new ways to separate innocent citizens from their money or personal information.”
Clint was told “anyone can fall victim to an online, text, or telephone scam. Scammers can be tricky and intimidating. Learning their methods and angles will help you avoid turning over your money or private information to a bad actor.”

According to Rachel Aeschliman, Interim Health Commissioner for the Wood County Health Department, the number of confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness caused by a parasite has now risen to over 200 in Wood County!
According to the Health Department, “At this time, no specific food item or source has been confirmed. Because Cyclospora is most commonly associated with fresh produce, the health department continues to encourage residents to practice safe food handling at home.”

Rick Rettig is challenging the incumbent, State Representative Haraz N. Ghanbari, and Clint had the opportunity to get to know the long time educator on Wednesday’s show. Their conversation ranged from the candidates 33 years as a high school educator, why Mr. Rettig is running, what his priorities are and how folks can find out more about him and his campaign.

Clint talked Wednesday morning with Zach Hayes, Sustainability Coordinator in the Office of Campus Sustainability, and Intern/Volunteer Vanessa, a junior studying Environmental Policy & Analysis with a concentration in sustainable management. She’s also the president of Environmental Action Group (EAG) student org this year!

A Cancer Care Nurse Navigator for the Wood County Hospital. Sara Hackler, reached out to Clint to see if she could stop by and share her personal story as a cancer survivor and how she is now raising money for her “Over the Edge” campaign for The Victory Center in Toledo. On either September 4th or 5th depending on available time slots Sara will be repelling down a 16-story building in Toledo. All the money she raises will stay local to help with activities for cancer patients.

Brandon Hemminger, Executive Director at St. Clare Commons in Perrysburg, returned to the Morning Show studios for the 1st time in several months to talk about his new position and introduce us to some key staff members.

Clint talked with Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson today about these latest charges for the former President of the Pi Kappa Alpha (the Pikes) fraternity and what is next in this case that brought international attention to the University.
