Leadership BG Program
Leadership BG is a one-day per month commitment for 9 months that highlights a broad range of issues vital to the community. The program beings in September and runs through May each year. Through contact with a variety of experts in the fields of Economic Development, Local Government, Health Care, Judicial System, Manufacturing, Social Services, Education, and Leadership Development, participants will expand their leadership skills, knowledge, and influence on their community.
These components also increase communication dialogue between the public and private sector; builds consensus among participants, and fosters personal and professional relationships through the exchange of viewpoints and experiences. Each class is given the challenge of completing a required class community service project of its choice, enabling the group to work together toward a common goal while administering their leadership style and exploring possibilities of effective change.
Overview of the experience:
During a 1-day per month, 9 month commitment
- Take part in a series of active education experiences.
- Design and execute a community service project as a class, working towards a common goal while administering and fine-tuning your leadership style.
- Join a dialogue among participants and community leaders.
- Learn communication and leadership styles and skills.
Goals:
- Develop a broad view of leadership through direct contact with a range of individuals /entities, focused on the quality of life in Bowling Green and surrounding areas.
- Provide current information about community issues and concerns.
- Promote dialogue among participants and community leaders.
- Strengthen leadership and communication skills through exercises/programming.
- Motivate participants to work more effectively within their own business/organization and community.
- Successfully complete a class project founded on the principle of filling a need and giving back to the community.
Class Schedule:
Leadership classes are held once a month, usually the third Wednesday. Each session will start at approximately 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. Participants must commit to attend the whole day each session, unless excused for emergencies or illness.
Leadership BG is not a course, but an experience. It is intended to extend beyond the class graduation. Alumni will provide a forum for continued education, networking, coalition building, and a pool of informed leaders for service on various boards, commissions, etc. JOIN THE 650+ CLASSMATES TO DATE!
